Marriage celebrant
One of my favourite things about weddings is seeing the physical connections and emotional reactions when eras, lives and stories intertwine.
When I write a ceremony, I’m telling a tale that represents the inner monologue, key character traits and known presence of two different people, then accurately expressing what happened when they came together. Maybe that’s fireworks and all consuming. Maybe it’s as simple as two people finally finding a place they fit. Maybe it’s about feeling at home - somewhere safe. What matters is that the it’s true and that it feels like you.
Like all good stories, we move through the motions of finding love, feeling love and ultimately, being lead by love - to the company you keep and the memories you continue to make. My stories are not without plot twists, misdirection or exaggeration - we’ve got to make it interesting! But in general, they are honest and they are hopeful.
The ceremony, in my opinion, sets the mood for the entire day. Yours, and everyone else’s. It’s a moment to take a deep breathe and truly celebrate the love you share and the life you’ve built. It’s a chance to take everyone you adore through every emotion they have. It’s an experience that encourages strangers to connect and an opportunity for old friends to feel familiar again.
As your Celebrant, I will collaborate with you to design an experience that puts you completely at ease. During our time together, I will give you recommendations and suggestions to shape the ceremony, whether that’s where to stand, who to include and how to elevate each moment to make them all equally memorable.
As a creative, I will work closely with your vendor team to ensure the entire experience flows seamlessly - that we can all work in sync and that you can be completely present without your mind wandering.
As a writer, my goal is to make your guests feel as though they’re watching their favourite movie - only they know the stars of the show and your story is also, in a way, theirs.
When your crowd connects, the energy lifts and the atmosphere of your entire day is undeniably joyful. I feel extremely honoured to be a part of that.
All of my inspiration for ceremonies comes from the couples they are written about. Through catching up, developing friendships and understanding the signatures of your relationship via written questionnaires. The themes of the story are all building toward your vows - to give them the space and the weight they deserve. Whether that’s giving important context, setting a scene you will further develop, sharing clues or complimenting the underlying meaning of your words - I think your vows, if you choose to write them, should be the emotional peak of the story. The most powerful and satisfying part. Something everyone can connect with, but most importantly, something you really see yourselves in. I’m here to help with your vows as much or as little as you need, supporting you to write something you can share with calm and confidence.
The ceremony itself will be unlike anything you’ve seen before, because there is no story like yours.
