Loz is a Civil Marriage Celebrant and Rhys is a documentary-style Wedding Photographer, based in Newcastle, NSW. Together, we make up the team called Hungry Hearts Co. Our approach to weddings is ‘experience over everything’ – we base each action and interaction on our couples feeling good and enjoying themselves. We travel all over the world, telling true stories about real people. What a damn treat!
We’ve been living and breathing in Wedding World since the start of 2019 and have married, photographed and befriended hundreds of couples since. Aren’t we lucky!?
We’ve been a part of so many special moments - big and small - in public and in private - completely personal and brilliantly unique! We’ve told so many stories, celebrated so many connections, and contributed to so much FUN! In fact, after seeing all the things, we figured, when it came to our wedding, why not do - all the things? And do them, we did!
On a breezy Monday evening we hosted a legals-only ceremony on the rooftop of our apartment building, with our closest family. Two days later, we threw the ultimate *wedding* party at our favourite place, Redleaf in Wollombi, with 100 of our nearest and dearest. Then, one month later, during our honeymoon, we exchanged our vows in Praiano, Italy. What a pair of piglets, right?
Individually and overall, these were the greatest experiences of our lives. With the help of some incredibly talented and absolutely iconic vendors, we created our own versions of wonderland and invited all the people we adore most, to enjoy all the things we love most. Think: a First Look, a Ceremony as theatrical as they come, a different musician in every space, Roaming Margaritas, a James Bond looking Magician, a Video Guestbook, a (gluten-free) Pasta Wheel, an abundance of Oysters, a full-blown Dance Floor on Reception Entry, Hand Written Letters to all 101 guests and Espresso Martinis in place of a cake.
When you invite us into your closest circle on your biggest day, you’re getting unlimited access to the culmination of everything we’ve learned and everything we’ve experienced, to date. Our goal is to help our couples personalise each element of their wedding day, making time for the things they genuinely care about and scrapping things they don't. We want to help orchestrate celebrations that encapsulate couples in every possible way, regardless of how big or how small they are! We’re here to curate and magnify the vibe. Your Vibe.
As a general rule, we thrive on the fact that love has, is and always will be an undeniable choice of the heart. We strongly, loudly, relentlessly encourage each heart to run wild in the pursuit of happiness and we admire those who follow their own beat, fearlessly. We celebrate every story, the same way we celebrate every body.
